If your manly man has been taken down by illness or surgery, you may want to get him a get well gift basket to show him you care. Even tough guys need a little tender loving care every now and then. Below are some ideas for get well gifts for guys that any man will love and appreciate.

Grooming aids

When your guy is stuck in bed, whether at a hospital or at home, it can be difficult for him to bathe. Pre-moistened body and facial wipes are a good solution. Along with the wipes, add a small container of powder scented with a manly fragrance to keep cleaned skin getting sweaty or sticky.

Along those same lines, a dry shampoo makes for easier hair washing while your guy is recuperating.

A good quality electric razor makes shaving from bed easy and convenient. Add an aftershave with a soothing fragrance, and he will be good to go.

Gourmet foods

Add some snacks to the gift basket that he can leave on his night table within easy reach. Flavored nuts, popcorn, pretzels, crackers, granola bars, cookies, fruit, and bottled water are all good choices that do not need to be refrigerated.

Of course, hand-delivered meals you can share while you visit are always welcomed. Think comfort foods: you can’t go wrong with chicken soup, spaghetti and meatballs, or a grilled steak and potato. For breakfast, make him pancakes or an omelet loaded with fresh veggies. Check first to see if his physician has ordered any dietary restrictions.

If you don’t cook, buy him gift certificates for restaurants that deliver to his area.

Boredom busters

Boredom is always an issue while someone is recuperating. To your special guy’s gift basket, add some books or magazines to suit his taste. Crossword puzzles and word search magazines can also be a fun challenge while he’s stuck in bed.

Another way to fill his time is to rent or buy DVDs of his favorite kinds of movies to distract him from any pain he may be feeling.

A deck of cards comes in handy for playing solitaire or other card games.

If your guy is a music fan, make him a mix tape or give him a gift card for downloading songs onto his mp3 player.

Comfort

Because he will likely be lounging in bed, think about including some soft flannel jockey shorts or pajamas, new slippers, and a thick terry cloth robe.

Chances are he won’t much feel like cleaning, so another gift he will appreciate is your time and effort if you straighten for him. If you don’t have the time to do it yourself, hire a cleaning company to come bi-weekly while he recuperates.

You can also offer to run errands for him, stock his refrigerator with food and drinks, do his laundry, or take care of pets and plants.

Just like anyone else, guys like to be pampered when they are sick or recovering from surgery. He is sure to remember your thoughtfulness and attention if you give him a little tender loving care during this time.
